We at The Wire Horse know that often horse owners look for things to give to their horses and to give as gifts to their horsey friends. As has been the case whenever we want to blog about staff favorites, we all had a hard time narrowing our choices down to just one pick. Such a great problem to have! So read on to see what gems we have selected as our staff’s top ten favorite horse items!
1. GAYLE – A WAY TO GET ORGANIZED
Gayle insisted she go first because she was so excited to share her horse item! She LOVES everything Royal Wire because it is sturdy, well constructed wire product that helps you be organized and it looks good! Although she loves so many Royal Wire items, her top pick is the Rolling Dolly. She appreciates its ability to load saddles along with bridles, show halters and assorted other things on the racks, hooks, and in the bottom basket, and that it easily goes from the tack room to the trailer to the tack stall at the show. The Rolling Derby is handy, easy to use, and saves work…by far Gayle’s favorite horse item!

2. BETH – A WARM WRAP FOR YOUR EQUINE FRIEND
Beth says that horse blankets are like shoes, you can never have too many! That’s why she is REALLY excited that we now have our own Wire Horse Blanket Line! She loves that all the winter blankets can be adjusted one size up or down as needed for a perfect fit. She likes blankets that are durable, and our blankets made with 1200 Denier shells meet that need. The Wire Horse blankets have Cool Plus lining, which is breathable to help minimize moisture getting trapped against the horse’s skin; another plus for Beth. 3. CARLY – COMFORTABLE FOOTWEAR THAT’S ALSO STYLISH TO BOOT
Carly struggled to come up with only one pick for her favorite horse item, but she finally decided on the Professional’s Choice SMBII Sports Medicine Boots. She loves that they offer such great protection no matter what she is doing with her horse: Western, English, gaming, jumping. They come in pretty colors, too!

4. MICHAEL – A SAFE, EFFECTIVE WAY TO LATHER UP
Michael had an easy time making his pick for favorite horse item: Exhibitors Quic Silver Shampoo. He loves that it brightens, lightens and whitens so effectively on any horse with white, light grey, palomino, or cream tones. It is also great for getting out tough stains. He feels good using it on horses because Quic Silver is safe and does not contain bleach. An extra perk is that he can use it on his black and white Springer Spaniel, too!

5. DAVE – LEATHER GOODS SUGGESTIONS FROM THE “LEATHER GUY”
Being our resident “leather guy,” Dave is drawn to anything leather, and loves checking out Western bridles and harnesses. He says that Dale Chavez Bridles are not only beautiful, but each is unique. He knows that starting with high quality leather is the basis for durable and beautiful leather pieces and he loves the quality of the Dale Chavez creations.

6. JENNY J. – FUN HATS FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON
Jenny J. laughed while picking her favorite horse item: Santa Hats for horses. She says, “It’s ridiculous I know!!! But, heck, I love it! Perfect for pictures with your pony and Christmas cards!” However, you shouldn’t stop at only purchasing a Santa hat for your equine friend, as we also have Santa hats that fit over riding helmets so you and your horse can be fashion buddies!

7. MEL – A BLANKET AS WELL-DESIGNED AS IT IS BEAUTIFUL
Mel was very specific in declaring that her favorite horse item is the Horze Nevada Blanket in the SVPU color! Purple is her favorite color and it looks great on her bay gelding. Beyond its great looks, she loves that the finish is quality and not stiff feeling and that this blanket is designed to come up forward and not rub on the withers. Also important to Mel is the fact that the gussets allow her horse to have full range of motion. 8. JENNY S. – ‘REIN’ ‘EM IN FOR A GREAT RIDE
Jenny S. LOVES her show tack. She is a hard worker and says that buying new, quality show tack is like buying a car: you have to work hard to earn enough to afford it so looking for just the right thing is important. While her show saddle is her favorite thing, Jenny also has a thing about good quality reins. She loves the balance and the feel of them in her hands. So her picks are Show Saddles and Reins!

9. VAL – THE PERFECT BARN HALTER
Val’s favorite horse item is the Horze Largo Leather Halter. She loves this halter because it is fashioned from soft leather, so much more comfortable on the horse than is stiff leather. Val also loves that it has soft lining and is fully adjustable. The fact that it is easy to clean is another plus. It is the perfect barn halter for her!

10. JULIE – A HOOD YOUR HORSE WILL LOVE
Julie’s favorite horse item surprises no one here at the store: the Wire Horse Spandex Full Zippered Hood. This great item is the result of her designing a better fitting hood that is more comfortable for the horses and easier to put on than those that were on the market when her kids were showing POAs. She wanted larger eye holes and larger ear holes so as not to irritate the horses. She also wanted full zippered hoods from chin to mid chest so that they were easier to get on and off without a struggle. Finally, she included a polar fleece lined noseband to protect that tender area. We have sewn and sold hundreds of these smartly designed hoods over the past 25 years. Julie especially loves the fun prints and testifies that “Ya can’t be without one!”
