The 2018 Equine Affaire

The 2018 Equine Affaire in Columbus, OH, takes place from April 12-15, 2018. And we can’t wait!

The Wire Horse is participating in the trade show. We will be located in the Bricker building-Booth L. We hope you take the time to stop by and say “Hello”!

What is the Equine Affaire?

The Equine Affaire is a large event that will feature speakers who will educate participants on a variety of equine topics.

The North American equine exposition and equestrian gathering celebrates the animal we love so much: the horse. The 2018 Equine Affaire will consist of education, entertainment, and shopping. Visit our booth to see what we have in-store.

It’s all about education

The event will see hundreds of training clinics, seminars, and demonstrations. Leading coaches, competitors, trainers, and industry experts will provide tips to equine enthusiasts taken from their years of knowledge and experience in the field.

Only the best

World Champions, National Champions, Olympians, WEG and Pan Am competitors, popular equestrian TV personalities, professional equestrian performers, authors, judges, veterinarians, professors, and other top industry professionals will be on hand to lend their expertise.

Participants can attend sessions and hone their horse training, management, and riding skills. Even the most knowledgeable among us are sure to learn something new at this event.

A breed of horses all their own at the Breed Pavilion

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet dozens of horses from all different breeds from around the world through exhibits and demos.

Association representatives can answer questions about specific horse breeds, including miniature, to draft, stock, and sport horses.

The Exhibit area is where you can find horse owners, horse farm owners, and horse service providers.

The 2018 Equine Affaire’s Horse and Farm Exhibits area will feature training, breeding, boarding, and lesson facilities. The exhibition will also feature stallions at stud and horses for sale. You’ll have an opportunity to find the right horse, trainer, teacher, and equestrian services.

Versatile Horse and Rider Competition

Let the races begin!

The 2018 Versatile Horse & Rider Competition (VHRC) will take place Friday, April 13th, in the coliseum at the Ohio Expo Center. You won’t want to miss watching horse and rider teams competing for $5,500 in cash and prizes! The top four riders will receive cash and prizes, with the top ten riders receiving ribbons.

This event will feature obstacles and challenges such as: “jumping over obstacles, backing up through a pattern, pole bending or roll backs, various gymkhana games, working gates, riding over or through “spooky objects”, gait/lead changes, flexing, working on the diagonal, etc.”

Judging the competition

The 2018 Versatile Horse & Rider Competition features some 25 horse and rider combinations. Riders will race through an obstacle course designed to test the riders’ horsemanship, the horses’ athleticism, the horses’ attitude, communication between the horse and rider, and overall performance. Each obstacle will be judged on a scale of 0-5, with five being the best.

Not only must horses and riders must complete the course within a given time, their time directly affects their scores.

The Fantasia Show

For almost two decades, the Equine Affaire has been known for its Fantasia Show: equine entertainment that celebrates the horse through music.

The Fantasia Show features memorable horse and rider performances that highlight a range of skills. An event to look forward to each evening, the program has been a model for equestrian events across the country.

The Fantasia Show will take place at the coliseum of the Ohio Expo Center on Thursday April 12th through Saturday 14th at 7:30 p.m. each evening.
